I love lists. All kinds of lists. At times, I like a mini-list. Today I need a micro-list; just two Bible verses about not worrying. A micro-list so you can easily memorize them this week.
I wanted to say memorize them today. Some of you can memorize two verses verses in one day and be on your way to less worrying.
Personally, I need more time. I must read one verse, understand it, soak it in, then I can move to the next one.
Why is it such a big effort on my part?
Scripture is important to me. Memorizing verses about not worrying isn’t like one of my classes in college where I was expected to memorize a list of vocabulary words for a test.
What happened right after the test? You guessed it. I forgot most of the terms because I didn’t use those terms in my regularly life. I didn’t need those terms daily. Not worrying is important in my life.
Scripture at my fingertips to help me stop worrying? Yes, please!
Sometimes I quote these two verses multiple times a day to help me stop worrying.
The Best Way To Memorize Bible Verses About Not Worrying
One of the best ways for me to memorize important words is by writing them down. I have several notebooks where I write verses I want to remember.
I also have countless index cards and post-it notes with scripture scribbled on them. These cards and notes can be found all over my house and in my purse, van, and pockets!
Using both pen and pencil to write down Bible verses is fun for me. I don’t have proof yet, but I think switching between the two helps my memory.
Perhaps I should do a study on that…
Do Not Be Anxious
Strong words I need to hear and speak! Over and over and over again. This is one of the first verses I memorized after becoming a Christian.
It’s from the New International Version. The NIV is very easy to understand in my opinion.
Be sure to read the verses before and after Philippians 4:6. I want you to know that you can easily memorize this one, then build from there. I began with one verse, then added the surrounding verses over the years.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
A Sound Mind
Oh, how I LOVE this verse from the King James Bible! God gave ME a sound mind! Mama, do you need to hear that today? I know do!
I have put my own name in place of “us” many times. Try it. There is power in God’s word, ladies!
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Write these two verses down and works towards less worrying. God doesn’t want you to worry. Remember, He gave you a sound mind.
I know there are many Bible verses to help us with worrying. Starting out with two makes a memorization goal very simple.
